21
وَفِىٓ أَنفُسِكُمۡ ۚ أَفَلَا تُبۡصِرُونَ
EN

And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see?

وَفِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزۡقُكُمۡ وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ
EN

And in the heaven is your provision, and that which you are promised.

23
فَوَرَبِّ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقٌّۭ مِّثۡلَ مَآ أَنَّكُمۡ تَنطِقُونَ
EN

Then by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak.

هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيۡفِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ ٱلۡمُكۡرَمِينَ
EN

Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrîl (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrâhîm (Abraham)?

إِذۡ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيۡهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمًۭا ۖ قَالَ سَلَـٰمٌۭ قَوۡمٌۭ مُّنكَرُونَ
EN

When they came in to him and said: "Salâm, (peace be upon you)!" He answered: "Salâm, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me."

فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ فَجَآءَ بِعِجۡلٍۢ سَمِينٍۢ
EN

Then he turned to his household, and brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrâhîm (Abraham) was mainly cows].

فَقَرَّبَهُۥٓ إِلَيۡهِمۡ قَالَ أَلَا تَأۡكُلُونَ
EN

And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?"

فَأَوۡجَسَ مِنۡهُمۡ خِيفَةًۭ ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفۡ ۖ وَبَشَّرُوهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ عَلِيمٍۢ
EN

Then he conceived fear of them (when they ate not). They said: "Fear not."[2] And they gave him glad tidings of a son having knowledge (about Allâh and His religion of True Monotheism).

فَأَقۡبَلَتِ ٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ فِى صَرَّةٍۢ فَصَكَّتۡ وَجۡهَهَا وَقَالَتۡ عَجُوزٌ عَقِيمٌۭ
EN

Then his wife came forward with a loud voice: she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!"[3]

قَالُوا۟ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
EN

They said: "Even so says your Lord.[4] Verily, He is the All-Wise, the All-Knower."

۞ قَالَ فَمَا خَطۡبُكُمۡ أَيُّهَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ
EN

[Ibrâhîm (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?"

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرۡسِلۡنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمٍۢ مُّجۡرِمِينَ
EN

They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimûn (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allâh)

لِنُرۡسِلَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةًۭ مِّن طِينٍۢ
EN

To send down upon them stones of baked clay.

مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ
EN

Marked by your Lord for the Musrifûn (polytheists, criminals, sinners - those who trespass Allâh’s set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins).

فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا مَن كَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
EN

So We brought out from therein the believers.

فَمَا وَجَدۡنَا فِيهَا غَيۡرَ بَيۡتٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ
EN

But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [of Lût (Lot) and his two daughters].

37
وَتَرَكۡنَا فِيهَآ ءَايَةًۭ لِّلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِيمَ
EN

And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea[5] in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment.

38
وَفِى مُوسَىٰٓ إِذۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ بِسُلۡطَـٰنٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ
EN

And in Mûsâ (Moses) (too, there is a sign), when We sent him to Fir‘aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority.

فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكۡنِهِۦ وَقَالَ سَـٰحِرٌ أَوۡ مَجۡنُونٌۭ
EN

But [Fir‘aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman."

فَأَخَذۡنَـٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذۡنَـٰهُمۡ فِى ٱلۡيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌۭ
EN

So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, for he was blameworthy.
