Surah 4 سورة 4

1
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفۡسٍۢ وَٰحِدَةٍۢ وَخَلَقَ مِنۡهَا زَوۡجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنۡهُمَا رِجَالًۭا كَثِيرًۭا وَنِسَآءًۭ ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِى تَسَآءَلُونَ بِهِۦ وَٱلۡأَرۡحَامَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ رَقِيبًۭا
en O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife [Hawwâ (Eve)], and from them both He created many men and women; and fear Allâh through Whom you demand (your mutual rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship)[1]. وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلۡيَتَـٰمَىٰٓ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ ۖ وَلَا تَتَبَدَّلُوا۟ ٱلۡخَبِيثَ بِٱلطَّيِّبِ ۖ وَلَا تَأۡكُلُوٓا۟ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ إِلَىٰٓ أَمۡوَٰلِكُمۡ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حُوبًۭا كَبِيرًۭا
en And give unto orphans their property and do not exchange (your) bad things for (their) good ones; and devour not their substance (by adding it) to your substance. وَإِنۡ خِفۡتُمۡ أَلَّا تُقۡسِطُوا۟ فِى ٱلۡيَتَـٰمَىٰ فَٱنكِحُوا۟ مَا طَابَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ مَثۡنَىٰ وَثُلَـٰثَ وَرُبَـٰعَ ۖ فَإِنۡ خِفۡتُمۡ أَلَّا تَعۡدِلُوا۟ فَوَٰحِدَةً أَوۡ مَا مَلَكَتۡ أَيۡمَـٰنُكُمۡ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَدۡنَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَعُولُوا۟
en And if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphan-girls then marry (other) women of your choice, two or three, or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one or (the slaves) that your right hands possess. وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلنِّسَآءَ صَدُقَـٰتِهِنَّ نِحۡلَةًۭ ۚ فَإِن طِبۡنَ لَكُمۡ عَن شَىۡءٍۢ مِّنۡهُ نَفۡسًۭا فَكُلُوهُ هَنِيٓـًۭٔا مَّرِيٓـًۭٔا
en And give to the women (whom you marry) their Mahr (obligatory bridal-money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage) with a good heart; but if they, of their own good pleasure, remit any part of it to you, take it, and enjoy it without fear of any harm (as Allâh has made it lawful).Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan) · Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan · QuranEnc distribution

وَلَا تُؤۡتُوا۟ ٱلسُّفَهَآءَ أَمۡوَٰلَكُمُ ٱلَّتِى جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمۡ قِيَـٰمًۭا وَٱرۡزُقُوهُمۡ فِيهَا وَٱكۡسُوهُمۡ وَقُولُوا۟ لَهُمۡ قَوۡلًۭا مَّعۡرُوفًۭا

وَٱبۡتَلُوا۟ ٱلۡيَتَـٰمَىٰ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغُوا۟ ٱلنِّكَاحَ فَإِنۡ ءَانَسۡتُم مِّنۡهُمۡ رُشۡدًۭا فَٱدۡفَعُوٓا۟ إِلَيۡهِمۡ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ ۖ وَلَا تَأۡكُلُوهَآ إِسۡرَافًۭا وَبِدَارًا أَن يَكۡبَرُوا۟ ۚ وَمَن كَانَ غَنِيًّۭا فَلۡيَسۡتَعۡفِفۡ ۖ وَمَن كَانَ فَقِيرًۭا فَلۡيَأۡكُلۡ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ ۚ فَإِذَا دَفَعۡتُمۡ إِلَيۡهِمۡ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ فَأَشۡهِدُوا۟ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ حَسِيبًۭا
en And try orphans (as regards their intelligence) until they reach the age of marriage; if then you find sound judgement in them, release their property to them, but consume it not wastefully and hastily fearing that they should grow up, and whoever (amongst guardians) is rich, he should take no wages, but if he is poor, let him have for himself what is just and reasonable (according to his labour). لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌۭ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلۡوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلۡأَقۡرَبُونَ وَلِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِيبٌۭ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلۡوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلۡأَقۡرَبُونَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنۡهُ أَوۡ كَثُرَ ۚ نَصِيبًۭا مَّفۡرُوضًۭا

وَإِذَا حَضَرَ ٱلۡقِسۡمَةَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَٱلۡيَتَـٰمَىٰ وَٱلۡمَسَـٰكِينُ فَٱرۡزُقُوهُم مِّنۡهُ وَقُولُوا۟ لَهُمۡ قَوۡلًۭا مَّعۡرُوفًۭا

وَلۡيَخۡشَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَوۡ تَرَكُوا۟ مِنۡ خَلۡفِهِمۡ ذُرِّيَّةًۭ ضِعَـٰفًا خَافُوا۟ عَلَيۡهِمۡ فَلۡيَتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلۡيَقُولُوا۟ قَوۡلًۭا سَدِيدًا
en And let those (executors and guardians) have the same fear in their minds as they would have for their own, if they had left weak offspring behind. إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَأۡكُلُونَ أَمۡوَٰلَ ٱلۡيَتَـٰمَىٰ ظُلۡمًا إِنَّمَا يَأۡكُلُونَ فِى بُطُونِهِمۡ نَارًۭا ۖ وَسَيَصۡلَوۡنَ سَعِيرًۭا

يُوصِيكُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِىٓ أَوۡلَـٰدِكُمۡ ۖ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثۡلُ حَظِّ ٱلۡأُنثَيَيۡنِ ۚ فَإِن كُنَّ نِسَآءًۭ فَوۡقَ ٱثۡنَتَيۡنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَ ۖ وَإِن كَانَتۡ وَٰحِدَةًۭ فَلَهَا ٱلنِّصۡفُ ۚ وَلِأَبَوَيۡهِ لِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٍۢ مِّنۡهُمَا ٱلسُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ إِن كَانَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌۭ ۚ فَإِن لَّمۡ يَكُن لَّهُۥ وَلَدٌۭ وَوَرِثَهُۥٓ أَبَوَاهُ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلثُّلُثُ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُۥٓ إِخۡوَةٌۭ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلسُّدُسُ ۚ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ وَصِيَّةٍۢ يُوصِى بِهَآ أَوۡ دَيۡنٍ ۗ ءَابَآؤُكُمۡ وَأَبۡنَآؤُكُمۡ لَا تَدۡرُونَ أَيُّهُمۡ أَقۡرَبُ لَكُمۡ نَفۡعًۭا ۚ فَرِيضَةًۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًۭا
en Allâh commands you as regards your children’s (inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females; if (there are) only daughters, two or more, their share is two-thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is a half. For parents, a sixth share of inheritance to each if the deceased left children; if no children, and the parents are the (only) heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased left brothers (or sisters), the mother has a sixth. (The distribution in all cases is) after the payment of legacies he may have bequeathed or debts. You know not which of them, whether your parents or your children, are nearest to you in benefit; (these fixed shares) are ordained by Allâh. ۞ وَلَكُمۡ نِصۡفُ مَا تَرَكَ أَزۡوَٰجُكُمۡ إِن لَّمۡ يَكُن لَّهُنَّ وَلَدٌۭ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌۭ فَلَكُمُ ٱلرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكۡنَ ۚ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ وَصِيَّةٍۢ يُوصِينَ بِهَآ أَوۡ دَيۡنٍۢ ۚ وَلَهُنَّ ٱلرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكۡتُمۡ إِن لَّمۡ يَكُن لَّكُمۡ وَلَدٌۭ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمۡ وَلَدٌۭ فَلَهُنَّ ٱلثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكۡتُم ۚ مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ وَصِيَّةٍۢ تُوصُونَ بِهَآ أَوۡ دَيۡنٍۢ ۗ وَإِن كَانَ رَجُلٌۭ يُورَثُ كَلَـٰلَةً أَوِ ٱمۡرَأَةٌۭ وَلَهُۥٓ أَخٌ أَوۡ أُخۡتٌۭ فَلِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٍۢ مِّنۡهُمَا ٱلسُّدُسُ ۚ فَإِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَكۡثَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَهُمۡ شُرَكَآءُ فِى ٱلثُّلُثِ ۚ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ وَصِيَّةٍۢ يُوصَىٰ بِهَآ أَوۡ دَيۡنٍ غَيۡرَ مُضَآرٍّۢ ۚ وَصِيَّةًۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَلِيمٌۭ
en In that which your wives leave, your share is a half if they have no child; but if they leave a child, you get a fourth of that which they leave after payment of legacies that they may have bequeathed or debts. In that which you leave, their (your wives) share is a fourth if you leave no child; but if you leave a child, they get an eighth of that which you leave after payment of legacies that you may have bequeathed or debts. If the man or woman whose inheritance is in question has left neither ascendants nor descendants, but has left a brother or a sister, each one of the two gets a sixth; but if more than two, they share in a third, after payment of legacies he (or she) may have bequeathed or debts, so that no loss is caused (to anyone). تِلۡكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ يُدۡخِلۡهُ جَنَّـٰتٍۢ تَجۡرِى مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ
en These are the limits (set by) Allâh (or ordainments as regards laws of inheritance), and whosoever obeys Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) will be admitted to Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise), to abide therein, and that will be the great success.Source: The Noble Qur'an – English Translation (Hilali & Khan) · Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan · QuranEnc distribution

وَمَن يَعۡصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَيَتَعَدَّ حُدُودَهُۥ يُدۡخِلۡهُ نَارًا خَـٰلِدًۭا فِيهَا وَلَهُۥ عَذَابٌۭ مُّهِينٌۭ

15
وَٱلَّـٰتِى يَأۡتِينَ ٱلۡفَـٰحِشَةَ مِن نِّسَآئِكُمۡ فَٱسۡتَشۡهِدُوا۟ عَلَيۡهِنَّ أَرۡبَعَةًۭ مِّنكُمۡ ۖ فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَأَمۡسِكُوهُنَّ فِى ٱلۡبُيُوتِ حَتَّىٰ يَتَوَفَّىٰهُنَّ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ أَوۡ يَجۡعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلًۭا

16
وَٱلَّذَانِ يَأۡتِيَـٰنِهَا مِنكُمۡ فَـَٔاذُوهُمَا ۖ فَإِن تَابَا وَأَصۡلَحَا فَأَعۡرِضُوا۟ عَنۡهُمَآ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ تَوَّابًۭا رَّحِيمًا
en And the two persons (man and woman) among you who commit illegal sexual intercourse, hurt them both.[5] And if they repent (promise Allâh that they will never repeat, i.e. commit illegal sexual intercourse and other similar sins) and do righteous good deeds, leave them alone. 17
إِنَّمَا ٱلتَّوۡبَةُ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ لِلَّذِينَ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِجَهَـٰلَةٍۢ ثُمَّ يَتُوبُونَ مِن قَرِيبٍۢ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ يَتُوبُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًۭا

18
وَلَيۡسَتِ ٱلتَّوۡبَةُ لِلَّذِينَ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ قَالَ إِنِّى تُبۡتُ ٱلۡـَٔـٰنَ وَلَا ٱلَّذِينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَهُمۡ كُفَّارٌ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَعۡتَدۡنَا لَهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا
en And of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil deeds until death faces one of them and he says: "Now I repent;" nor of those who die while they are disbelievers. يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمۡ أَن تَرِثُوا۟ ٱلنِّسَآءَ كَرۡهًۭا ۖ وَلَا تَعۡضُلُوهُنَّ لِتَذۡهَبُوا۟ بِبَعۡضِ مَآ ءَاتَيۡتُمُوهُنَّ إِلَّآ أَن يَأۡتِينَ بِفَـٰحِشَةٍۢ مُّبَيِّنَةٍۢ ۚ وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ ۚ فَإِن كَرِهۡتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تَكۡرَهُوا۟ شَيۡـًۭٔا وَيَجۡعَلَ ٱللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيۡرًۭا كَثِيرًۭا
en O you who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will; and you should not treat them with harshness, that you may take away part of the Mahr [6] you have given them, unless they commit open illegal sexual intercourse; and live with them honourably. 20
وَإِنۡ أَرَدتُّمُ ٱسۡتِبۡدَالَ زَوۡجٍۢ مَّكَانَ زَوۡجٍۢ وَءَاتَيۡتُمۡ إِحۡدَىٰهُنَّ قِنطَارًۭا فَلَا تَأۡخُذُوا۟ مِنۡهُ شَيۡـًٔا ۚ أَتَأۡخُذُونَهُۥ بُهۡتَـٰنًۭا وَإِثۡمًۭا مُّبِينًۭا
