Hadith 48988

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَتْنِي حَفْصَةُ‏:‏ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، كَانَ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ حِينَ يَطْلُعُ الْفَجْرُ وَيُنَادِي الْمُنَادِي، قَالَ أَيُّوبُ‏:‏ وَأُرَاهُ، قَالَ‏:‏ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ‏.‏

“Hafsa said: 'Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to perform two cycles of ritual prayer when the dawn was rising, and the caller was calling'. And Ayyub said, “I think he described the two prayer cycles as abbreviated.”
